The marvelous adventures of Kaitlyn & Taylor, who call home for the past 3237 days.

Bangkok, Thailand

After Bali we decided to head to Bangkok to stuff our bellies with street food. At $39/night it was the cheapest place we had probably ever stayed.

Our plans aligned with one of our best friends also visiting Bangkok with some friends. A weekend of street food, bar hopping, swimming in hotel pools and 3am room service is apparently a great way to forge new friendships!

Our friends were staying at the Lebua hotel, which may look familiar because the Hangover II was filmed here! It has some of Bangkok's most prestigious views (and most expensive drinks).

Hands down, Thailand has some of the best food we've ever had, along with some of the most inventive drinks. We ate and drank our way across the spectrum from Kaitlyn's first bag of Coke to cocktail glasses made of ice at the top of the Lebua Skybar.

Yes, that's Kaitlyn in a bubble bath enjoying pizza and champagne.

Our unexpected adventure led us to book tickets at midnight for a morning flight 8 hours later to Koh Tao. We flew from Bangkok to Ko Samui and then took a 2 hour ferry ride to Koh Tao, where we'd be learning how to scuba dive over 5 days.

This small island is where Greg and Dustin opened our eyes to the blissful experience of being 60 feet underwater.

For me, scuba was even more mentally challenging than physically. There's a specific moment when I was sitting at the bottom of the ocean, looking up and feeling the survival instinct start to kick in.

Relax. Remember to inhale and exhale slowly. Channel every ounce of calmness within. Then something magical happens and I find myself in the middle of a neon cloud. It's a school of fish swimming by and one of the most magical things I've ever witnessed. That's when the fun begins.

Months later as I write this, those quiet moments at the bottom of the ocean changed my life. Whenever I'm stressed or worried, Kaitlyn and I stare at each other, squeeze hands and breathe deeply. In & out, in & out. We're at the bottom of the ocean again and everything is going to be okay.

Our enchanting summer in Asia came to a close and we headed to Amsterdam next!
