Kaitlyn was attending college in nearby San Marcos and I moved to Austin after living in Gainesville, FL for the past 10 years. This is the first home we ever shared.

Before we even bought a bed, our first big purchase was a cowhide rug.
We were inspired by a photo from the Hotel San Jose. It felt truly Texas.

For awhile IKEA ran a special: spend $200 on furniture, eat unlimited food at their food court. We'd pile up $60 worth of salmon and meatballs during our shopping breaks.

The poster on the left is the Holstee Manifesto and the poster on the right was created by Kaitlyn.

For two years in a row, we camped out in nearby Camp Ben McCulloch for the Austin String Band Festival. Drinking cider and dancing the night away and morning skinnydipping in the cold creek.

Making extravagant meals was our favorite way to spend the weekend.

I've been attending SXSW since 2005 but this was the first year I was a local. Which meant piling all of our friends in our house to sleep and party with us for 10 days.

After Kaitlyn graduated, we sold our stuff and set out to live in Airbnb's year-round. We headed to Paris and coincidentally, our landlord ended up turning our Austin home into a full-time rental.
